Democrats to ‘revisit’ law creating border fence

Not that we ever expected a fence to be built by the government, this from today’s Washington Times:

Democrats to ‘revisit’ law creating border fence

Democrats will look again at the legislation mandating 698 miles of fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border and might seek to scrap the plan altogether when they take control of Congress next year. Read the entire article here.

A GOP Senate Leader?

“K-Lo likes Jess Sessions (sic)for a slot in the GOP leadership. [Jeff Sessions - Ed.]

“He does get an “A” rating from the Americans for Better Immigration.

Bullshit In the Blogosphere

“… there seems to be a fair amount of blather to the effect that the election was a “move to the center,” and “reflected increased Hispanic opposition to the Republican party’s ‘anti-immigrant’ stance.”
Both views are bullshit. … they won’t get it by pandering to illegal aliens and notions that the Southern border should remain entirely open to illegal passage.

Hanson on How We Must Now View Illegal Immigration

“…he also debunks the argument that an open border at Mexico somehow stabilizes that unstable and corrupt nation.”

Rethinking Illegal Immigration

“… Could it be that far from stabilizing Mexico, the continual flight of millions of Mexico’s disenchanted – one in 10 currently live in the U.S. – has only made things worse… Uh, yeah, Obviously, read the whole thing.

Wasting No Time

“…in stabbing us in the back, that is. Try this one:

President Bush yesterday said he will team up with Democrats to pass an immigration bill with a guest-worker program that his own party blocked this year…

RNC Chairman To Step Down

Mehlman, on immigration:

“Just last week, there were news reports about jobs not being filled here in California.

“If there are people willing to do jobs, and jobs that need to be done, we should be trying to bring those two together, not keep them apart.

“We can do that by using the same methods and technologies we use to keep terrorists and drug runners from crossing our borders. If we can identify them, we can also identify carpenters and farmers and invite them in when we need them.

“If illegal immigrants fill those jobs, then the community suffers because services like hospitals and schools and roads are used, but the local and state taxes to support those services are not paid.

“And the illegal worker is often the victim too, denied the protection of laws to ensure that he or she is not exploited.

“If on the other hand, we fill our economic needs with legal workers, we all benefit.

“Those people are paying taxes — they’re producing products – - they’re adding to the community.

“The President understands that family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande.

“And his plan shows that we can be safe and welcoming — at the same time.

Goodbye, Mr. Mehlman. Let’s see if we can find an American to fill your job, so conservative values won’t stop at the Beltway anymore.

Despite President Bush (Lib-Saudi Arabia), Hope Remains

“… when offered the full range of choices of what to do about the existing illegal population, voters rejected both the extremes of legalization (“amnesty” to you and me) and mass deportations; instead, they preferred the approach of this year’s House bill, which sought attrition of the illegal population through consistent immigration law enforcement.…”
We’ll need to start leveraging the large US grassroots opposition to open borders and amnesty for millions of illegals into a concerted attack against Bush’s Chaffee/Jeffords imitation.

Left-Wing President Bush Shows True Colors – More Betrayals Expected

“President Bush yesterday said he will team up with Democrats to pass an immigration bill with a guest-worker program that his own party blocked … his Republican opponents predicted a bloody intraparty fight but said they cannot stop such a bill from passing.

“That didn’t take long, did it?

Hugh Hewitt: Tony Snow on Tuesday’s Vote, Judges, and Immigration

“The transcript of my interview with Tony Snow is here. We cover a number of subjects, and his reactions to my questions about the fence will not make border security firsters very happy, and the anti-amnesty crowd…

Minuteman Project: Did Bush throw the election?

“They’re not to be confused with the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps.

“Here you have conservative candidates and some incumbents who were solidly in favor of protecting our borders – a position with which the overwhelming American majority agrees,” commented Minuteman Founder Jim Gilchrist. “Bush has been unable to pass his amnesty program through the GOP-controlled Congress, but he won’t give up, so why wouldn’t he welcome a more compliant Democrat-led pro-illegal alien Congress, where he wouldn’t have effective opposition from his own party?”

“Today’s speech by the President tends to confirm Gilchrist’s ruminations.

Marriage Fraud Perpetrated by Terrorists and Criminals

“… recently ICE has focused on investigating and apprehending additional individuals who are involved in marriage fraud schemes to enable aliens to circumvent the immigration laws.”

Democrats to ‘revisit’ law creating border fence

About two weeks ago I noted that the border fence will probably never be built. The then Republican controlled congress voted to authorize the fence, but not to fund it. Now we have even more proof that the Democrats are soft on security.
