From Bill Buckley:
“We heard from the solid base of conservatives who identify good government with the Republican Party. They spoke their opposition to a president who has not once used his constitutional power to resist spendthrift measures by Congress. He has not accosted directly, let alone relieved, the problems raised by helter-skelter immigration laws. And he simply gave up on reforming a Social Security system which cannot fulfill its commitments.

… here’s my message to the Republican Party:
You’re a bunch of morons. You had the whole enchilada: a country united behind you on the War On Terrorism, and strong support for a conservative agenda like low taxes, less gun control, less illegal immigration and smaller government. Now you’ve handed over the government to a party who wants more of all the above, except for the War On Terrorism.

Arizona’s four immigration propositions are passing, so far claiming more than 70 percent of the vote with 70 percent of polls reporting.McCain is on Fox right now saying that the reason the GOP got waxed was pork/earmarks and a “failure to reform immigration.” If he means what I think he does – and he’s on record as backing Bush’s amnesty plans – then he’s saying that the GOP lost because they didn’t throw open the borders and give amnesty to 12 million illegals.
